A composer (or composer-performer) listens to a concert (of improvised music) and passes it on, only based on this one-time listening, in oral or written form to an ensemble, who performs it. Again to this concert another composer listens to and passes it on in oral or written form, based on the one-time listening experience, to an ensemble, who performs it.
